OVERVIEW

Appleton Solar is a local industry leader as one of the first dedicated solar electric companies based out of and serving northeast Wisconsin. They are an amazing husband and wife team who are passionate about renewable energy, currently getting all their home energy needs met through solar power. They specialize in solar electric systems, energy storage design and installation, energy storage, EV charging, site assessments and custom solar arrays to meet individual’s residential needs. They take a hands-on approach with their customers and have a great reputation in the Wisconsin Fox Valley and beyond for their thoroughness and expertise.

CHALLENGE

Appleton Solar first approached Hype about a vehicle wrap design. At the time, they were using what appeared to be a homemade logo. Given that the vehicle wrap installation would be a great financial investment, we inquired whether this would be a good time to create a new logo. They agreed that indeed their company was in need of a logo that represented their growing business in the solar electric system market.

SOLUTION

Perhaps obvious, we began with a sun. We have the sun behind the peak of a rooftop, showing a side of the roof, which is where most solar panels are installed. A simple, abstract letter A for Appleton was designed and incorporated into the roof. Through five simple lines and a circle, a modern logo was born. We put a gradient of gold and orange into the sun to help stylize and differentiate it from a circle. To reinforce the idea of a relatively new and growing segment of alternative energy, a modified sans serif font with rounded edges was chosen to convey modernity and the colorful sun provides rays of hope of this increasing trend toward a more sustainable future of energy.
